Fond Memories: What Do They Really Remember?

Fond memories
Linger in their hearts and minds.
Words no longer come to them,
Or if they do,
They are indistinct, incomplete
Or cannot be expressed,
Meaningless to anyone
But themselves.
For most,

A long, dedicated life
Filled with love
Expressed in its fullness.
Lives well lived,
Now being relived,
At least momentarily.
Vague recollections of yesteryear,
An inaccessible treasury of
Fleeting joy and sorrow.
Their soft, pale skin,

Wrinkled faces, silvery-white hair;
The glow in their eyes,
Reveals fond memories
Still alive in their hearts.
Their smiles reflecting
An inner quietness,
A blessed peacefulness
Words cannot express.
What do they really remember?

Perhaps no one will ever know.

Fond memories can still fill the hearts and minds of those with memory loss.
